Virtues of The Bhagvad Geeta

Our those elders, who have never read The Bhagvad Geeta, advise us to not read that book as it will make us a Saint(or a Sanyasi). It will make us lose contact with the materialistic world. But, they don't know that The Geeta helps to embrace ourselves with the world. In this blog, we will know some of the benefits of reading Bhagvad Geeta. It is well explained in its last shloka which is said by Sanjay. The shloka is as: यत्र योगेश्वर: कृष्णो यत्र पार्थो धनुर्धर: | तत्र श्रीर्विजयो भूतिध्रुवा नीतिर्मतिर्मम || 18.78 || Its literal meaning is: "Where the holy conversation called the Bhagvad Geeta between the master of union Krishn and the bow holder Arjun is present there will be rife opulence, victory, prosperity and righteousness. Of this, I(Sanjay) am certain." By reading this Bhagvad Geeta, you will get these things and they will be lingered. But, there is a condition which is certain to be fulfilled. That is to read this book with reverence. Now, you may ponder that h

Manifestation of God

**Note: There are differences between a dev and a bhagvan. Here, God, wherever it is used, will be synonymous with Bhagvan. Since our childhood, we have heard about God. We also find ourselves pondering "What's the appearance of God? How does he look like? How many hands do he have.......... and blah blah blah." But, we never get a proper answer. If we go by paintings, the God's appearance will change from artisit to artist. So, is there a specific answer to this query? The answer you find will be in an affirmative way. In the Bhagvad Geeta, especially the 11th chapter, its mentions are there. The God is regarded as formless, the creator of all beings, eternal, satisfied and all the attributes of bright and beautiful stuff. Even if 1000 suns were to rise together then also his glaze can't be matched. He has faces, hands, eyes, stomachs, etc. in all directions. Now, you may anticipate to know about the formless virtue. Being formless means that he(God) does not hav

"Who is my best friend? Who is my worst enemy?" These 2 questions are always prevalent in our minds. But, we never get their answers. This is not that we don't try, rather we don't search in the correct place. To find their answers, we need to dive into our austere culture. But most of us don't like to be what we are, i.e., being a true Indian. In this post, I assure you that your query regarding this will soon be answered. In order to get the answer, we have to open a 5000 years old book, commonly called 'The Bhagvad Geeta'. There is a pertinent shloka in this holy book regarding this. The shloka is as:                    à¤¬à¤¨्धुरात्मात्मनस्तस्य येनात्मैवात्मना जित: |                 अनात्मनस्तु शत्रुत्वे वर्ते तात्मैव शत्रुवत् || 6.6 || Its literal meaning is: "If a person's mind is in his/her control, the mind is his best friend. But, if the mind is not in control, it will turn out be his/her worst enemy." This shloka has a very deep meanin

Introduction

The Bhagvad Geeta literally means the song of God. It comprises esoteric and rife knowledge which is epochal for the development of each individual and the whole mankind. The Bhagvad Geeta has been sung by Lord Krishna to Arjuna in order to help him to be motivated and stick to his karma. In this holy conversation, Lord Krishna reveals many notions regarding nature which earlier were not known to the mankind. Now, you may doubt why Lord Krishna sang the Bhagvad Geeta in the battlefield only as Lord Krishna, or Lord Vishnu, knew this from the very beginning. This has a very simple answer. This is because if it were sung earlier, Arjuna would not be able to implement these things. But since it was told when it was needed, Arjuna could understand the gist. This is what we lack in our Indian education system. We are just taught things which no one has ever seen in his/her life. We are sometimes even taught antiquated things. As in class 9, we have to first read Thomson's model of atom.
